Just implemented a update in the smalltarbkp.bash script bringing it up to version 1.4, in this update I have implemented the force -full override for those that want to sometimes run full every backup for a particular reason while other backups are still running the normal full/incremental type backups.
Here is a screenshot of the -help showing you available syntax
Anyway one else feel free to download it and test it / use it / enjoy it.
If you already use smalltarbkp.bash version 1.3 you can simply run the following command.
$ smalltarbkp.bash [-upgrade]
If you want to know how I’ve configured my crontab to use this script here is a example.
# TAR BACKUP SCRIPT DAILY
0 2 * * * /home/ricardo/scripts/smalltarbkp.bash -path /home/ricardo/Programming -name “Programming” >/dev/null 2>&1
# TAR BACKUP SCRIPT WEEKLY
0 1 * * 0 /home/ricardo/scripts/smalltarbkp.bash -path /home/ricardo/Pictures -name “Pictures” >/dev/null 2>&1
# TAR BACKUP SCRIPT MONTHLY
0 0 1 * * /home/ricardo/scripts/smalltarbkp.bash -path /home/ricardo/CalibreLibrary -name “CalibreLibrary” -full >/dev/null 2>&1
Enjoy it and please let me know what you think @tergum_pro on twitter
